Dr. Ureshani Karunarathna

Dr. Ureshani Karunarathna is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, with expertise in toxicology, laboratory animal science, herbal medicine, and environmental health. Her research focuses on the hepatoprotective effects of natural products, particularly polyherbal formulations, and explores the role of environmental factors and natural toxins in human health. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to academic books, and co-developed national guidelines for the ethical use of laboratory animals.
 
Dr. Karunarathna is actively engaged in teaching, research supervision, and scientific leadership, holding key roles in national and international organizations. She is committed to promoting ethical research practices, environmental sustainability, and translational biomedical research, aiming to bridge traditional knowledge with modern science to improve health outcomes.
