A/PROF. NADEERA AHANGAMA

Associate Professor Nadeera Ahangama is the Associate Dean at the Sydney International School of Technology and Commerce (SISTC), based at the Melbourne campus. With over a decade of experience across Australian and international higher education institutions, she has held several senior academic and leadership roles. Her academic career, which began in 2007, reflects a strong commitment to student-centred education and the continuous enhancement of curriculum and pedagogy to support meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Associate Prof Ahangama completed her PhD in Information Systems at the University of Colombo in 2019, following a Master’s degree in Technology Management from Staffordshire University, UK. Her primary research interest lies in disaster resilience and crisis management from an Information Systems perspective, with a particular focus on how digital technologies, knowledge systems, and data-driven decision-making can enhance organisational and community resilience. Her work explores the role of Information Systems in supporting preparedness, response, and recovery during crises, bridging technological innovation with social and organisational contexts.

In addition to disaster resilience research, Associate Prof Ahangama’s scholarly interests include Knowledge Management, socio-technical systems, and information technology pedagogy in higher education. Through her research, leadership, and teaching, she continues to contribute to advancing the role of Information Systems in addressing complex societal challenges, particularly in the context of crisis and disaster management.
